Engineering Project Team Engineer

Job Summary

The Engineering Project Team (EP Team) Engineer is responsible for the pursuit and execution of the Company's most profitable opportunities and for converting business from a competitor to Kennametal through products and services.


Key Job Responsibilities

  • Largest Opportunity Pursuit and Conversion ‚€“ Technical and commercial support at the largest opportunities, with highest impact, in shortest amount of time within the Americas:

  • Is assigned to and pursues 1 million dollar and above opportunities with customers to convert their current business to Kennametal.

  • Ensures profitability must be increased for both parties and the customer has buy-in and commitment

  • Serves as the project manager of the conversion

  • Executes the conversion through engineering the blueprints, machines and processes of the customers' plants to support Kennametal tools

  • Develops and maintains relationships with customers through the end of the conversion

  • Effectively showcases Kennametal processes and tools to set the stage for deeper opportunities with the customers

  • Innovations (New Product Launch) ‚€“ Support for the sales organization in the training for newly launched products and conversion of largest opportunities

  • PLCO ‚€“ (Product Lifecycle Optimization) Support of product obsolescence conversions at the largest customer locations by executing the conversion of customers' obsolete products to current and updated Kennametal tooling.


Education, Work Experience, Skills, Certificates


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or relevant field

  • 8 or more years of relevant experience

  • In-depth understanding of the metal cutting or precision tooling industry

  • Deep technical expertise in metal cutting processes, products and technologies

  • Ability to apply current and newly brought to market technical solutions to customers

  • PMP Certification desired.¬  Lean greenbelt certifications (VSM, RCA, FMEA, and/or QFD) a plus.

  • An innovative and self-motivated marketer who is able to work independently with little supervision

  • Previous sales experience is preferred


Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
